Description:

GUARDE: From the Proto-Indo-European root *wer- "to watch; keep; guard; notice; heed." A line of vases melding the classic urn and the human form, Guarde forms physically embody a sense of vigilant constancy, perpetual attention, dutiful warding, and shielding from without. These vases purposefully stand between the animate and inanimate, evoking both the human figure and the arcades of Roman antiquity. Similar to how the proto-root has come to mean both "look at" and "guard" in different languages today, Guarde forms both draw the eye and seem to hide or protect something from it, simultaneously.

Additional Information:

1) Metallic, 2) Byzantine, and 3) Exposed (Bare Clay) Guarde vases are NOT food safe. Please reach out directly if you would like to have a food-safe glaze (black, cream) applied on the inside of the work. Recommended care: dry or damp cloth.

All other Guarde vases ARE food safe. Recommended care: hand wash.
